Stage 1: FUNdamentals (Under 10)

Our FUNdamentals programs are for juniors under 10 who want to learn the basics of squash and have a lot of fun in the process! At this age, our objectives are to foster a love of sport and to get the kids running, jumping, swinging, and laughing; formal competition is not yet a priority. While our lessons take place on the squash court, the FUNdamentals programs serve as a good preparation for any sport, and in this age group, we encourage young athletes to be involved in as many sports as possible.

There are two different FUNdamentals groups.

Munchkins (Under 6)

The Munchkins group focuses on having fun on the squash court. Munchkins will work on skills, drills, and games to prepare them for racquet sports while developing the physical literacy skills and self-confidence they’ll need for future involvement in sport.

Future Stars (7-10)

The Future Stars picks up right where the Munchkins leave off, with more skills, drills, and games suitable for this age group. Along with a focus on the fundamentals of squash, we also work on developing agility, balance, and coordination. Future Stars will be well rounded and confident young athletes that are prepared for success in any sport, and we encourage Future Stars to move on to our Developmental lessons when ready.

Stage 2: Developmental  (Ages 9+)

All your goals may perhaps be realized along with sevens spielen. Just about all the range of current betting is waiting for you personally! Our developmental programs are for juniors over the age of 9 and those who have come through the FUNdamentals programs. The focus of the Developmental program is to continue to develop athletic abilities while learning the fundamentals of squash through drills and games. Some Developmental athletes may have aspirations to play high level competitive squash, while others may simply want a place to burn off some steam with their friends. The Developmental program has a place for both types of athletes. At this stage, juniors are encouraged to play more than 1 sport.

There are two levels in the Developmental groups:

Developmental Level 1

Developmental 1 is for juniors with 0-2 years of experience playing squash. No experience is necessary and our focus will be on developing athletic abilities and basic strokes and skills with some match play. Dev 1 athletes will be encouraged to enjoy playing squash and will work towards competing in Squash Alberta Junior Bronze tournaments.

 Developmental Level 2

Developmental 2 is for juniors who have come through the Developmental 1 lessons or who have at least 1 year experience of squash lessons. Dev 2 will continue to build on the fundamentals acquired in Dev 1 but will focus a little bit more on match play and competition. Athletes in Dev 2 will be encouraged to compete in Squash Alberta Junior Silver and Bronze events as well as in local junior novice tournaments.

Stage 3: High Performance  (Ages 12+)

Our competitive junior program is for juniors who are competing in local, provincial, and national level junior tournaments. High Performance juniors will have either come through our Developmental programs or will have experience in a competitive junior program at another club. The competitive program is by invite only.
